ICA-TH 2026 runs alongside the 76th Annual Conference of the International Communication Association. The programme combines keynote lectures, thematic panels, mentorship activities, and collaborative research sessions designed to strengthen communication scholarship across Thailand, the Mekong region, and the broader Asian continent.

Programme Highlights

Opening Keynote Address

A leading scholar examines digital power asymmetries and knowledge production across Thailand and the Mekong region. Speaker to be announced.

Regional Hub Online Roundtable

Regional ICA hubs connect in a shared dialogue linking local research agendas to global ICA conversations.

Publication Mentorship

Small-group consultations with editors and senior scholars supporting publication strategies and journal submissions.

Methods Masterclass

A 90-minute intensive workshop focusing on high-demand research methodologies for communication research.

Mekong Research Clinics

Peer feedback sessions offering methodological guidance, research design consultation, and ethical research support.

Consortium Launch

The conference concludes with the launch of the Bangkok Hub Report and the establishment of the Thailand-Mekong Consortium.

Conference Tracks

Explores unequal digital infrastructure, AI ethics, data sovereignty, algorithmic bias, platform labour, and surveillance. Includes fintech exclusion, digital literacy, and community-based connectivity.
Focuses on the (mis)representation of migrant workers, ethnic/linguistic minorities, LGBTQ+, and marginalized groups. Welcomes participatory and community storytelling from regional perspectives.
Covers risk communication, health misinformation, climate crisis, transboundary haze, and community-based sustainability communication within Asian contexts.
Addresses linguistic hierarchies in publishing, translation politics, non-Western epistemologies, and decolonising communication theory from a regional vantage point.
Investigates misinformation in the Mekong region, political polarisation, digital campaigning, fact-checking, and influencer-driven activism on social platforms.
Examines AI regulatory frameworks in Asia, ethical design, media automation, public-interest AI, and the regional geopolitics of infrastructure and data flows.
Explores CSR, sustainability branding, diversity in advertising, digital consumer culture, and the role of commercial communication in addressing social inequality.
